Sacramento Public Art Near the Convention Center

By
Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate BRE #00697006

There are a couple of bronze statues and one with acrylic paint over a fiber and steel structure that are Sacramento public art near our convention center. The three art pieces are situated in a park near three other Sacramento landmarks: the  Sacramento Convention Center, Sacramento Community Center and IMAX Theatre.

If you play the cellphone game Ingress, you probably notice art more in Sacramento because it brings an awareness, which is one of the benefits of that game. But you don't need a computer game to spot public art in Sacramento. You just need to slow down and stop looking at your cellphone. You can read more in my personal blog today and see all of the photographs at this link: Unique Sacramento Public Art You Walk By and Never Notice.

Good morning, Elizabeth -- it is amazing what we can "see" when actually leave our automobiles or put down our devices.   Thank you for sharing three examples of what can be discovered in Sacramento.

Missing art because of text obession bothers me as much as seeing people walking by the roar of the ocean with music blaring on their headphones.

Michael Jacobs What's interesting to me is I did not stop to frame the photos I shot because my husband was clipping along at a fast pace and did not want to stop to watch me take pictures. I just shot those with my cellphone.

Joe Pryor You are inferring that all sounds of the ocean are preferrable to all sounds of music at all times, and I disagree with that premise.

I'm not a comic book fan, but I did enjoy Dr. Strange.  I'm fortunate enough that I've not seen "protesters" in my entire life in person.  Sadly Donald can't say the same.

And my feelings on the art in your post are 'eh, so someone thinks that's art' because well... we each have our own tastes in art.  I tend to like the kids drawings and colorings on my refrigerator best.

Hi Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents , with my background, I enjoy all types of art, although some more than others.  Sculpture is not one of my strong points, but I admire those who can.

Tammy Lankford, Funny, I remarked to a colleague the other day as we stood at a desk admiring a child's Halloween drawing -- that no matter how hard we could try to create a drawing like that, we could not do it. It's too simple. Our brains are too cluttered. Art from children is precious.

Larry Johnston The thing about sculptures, especially those that sit outside exposed to elements, is longevity. Take that original bronze sculpture of Poseiden (or Zeus) that was discovered some 100 years ago at the bottom of the sea and now stands in a museum in Athens. That's permanence, which you don't really achieve with canvas.

I saw Fantastic Beasts yesterday with the family we had visiting.  Unforutnately, there is no art nearby to see out walking around where we were.

Robert Vegas Bob Swetz You'd find even more if you played Ingress.

Chris Ann Cleland Did you like it? They set you up for the next movie, I guess there are more sequels. I enjoyed it. Also liked the spread in Vogue.

It was neat.  Definitely not the same old movie.  Not sure I'll be as into it as the Harry Potter Series though.
