Debbie Reynolds is hosting a 10 day challenge for what we are grateful and Thankful for. This is day eight. I am so grateful and thankful for the food on my table and the roof over my head. I am so thankful that I have never in my life had to worry whether I would have enough money to buy food to feed my family. I know that Robert Bob Gilbert was not so fortuanate when he was little. Together we donate to the The Star of Hope Mission in Houston Texas. I also have never had to worry about having a roof over my head and I thank God for that, he has blessed me in so many ways I feel humbled and honored.

I think many of us take for granted the roof over our head and the food on our table.  Yet, if we look around at certain other places on the globe, we realize how fortunate and blessed we are!

Good evening Yolanda Cordova-Gilbert , When seeing the News footage of some of the poor countries, it make us realize even though we may have some rough times, we are better off than much of the world.

I love your pie with the autumn leaves.

Yolanda I agree. I too am very grateful for the blessings I've had all my life.  My Mom and Dad showed us kids how to 'give to others' and I'm glad they did. The family I remember vividly was very poor. They were 8 kids and they lived in a very small mobile home. My Mom and I used to bring over baskets of food quite often. And my Dad made arrangements for some of the kids to 'work' the lunch line and were able to eat for free.  I never forgot those kids.

Around our house, there will be a lot of cooking over the next 2 days in preparation for a meal where all will consume within an hour or so.  Happy Thanksgiving

Yolanda, your post causes me to reflect on tough times in my life. I always made it through as a single woman, but I do recall times with no heat, losing the first home I bought on contract (oh my....12% interest, 3 year balloon...yeah, this guy saw me coming), food stamps. Not things I ever think about now, frankly. I have come SOOOOOO far, wow. Our life partners are so important! To be happy and grateful for them is just the tip of the LOVE iceberg...maybe not a good choice of words, but heck, you know what I mean!!

What a beautiful pie! We did not have an abundance of food growing up and I remember seeing a bare refrigerator and cabinets. I now have a full pantry and never worry about being hungry. It makes me think about those less fortunate.

That is such a wonderful thing to be thankful for and I know that I too often take it for granted.  It makes me very sad to know that others don't have a roof over their head and food on their table.
