There you go....this title creates a What? I never had that happen or yes Jay I know how you feel. Well this Holiday week it happened to me. On Wednesday I finished some shopping and dropping off my Holiday pies to clients. I noticed my next door neighbor's light on, so I decided to stop by with an Apple pie. They loved the pie; and I shared with them that their car lights were on...it turned out the battery was dying and they could not get it charged......I then went home and said call me if you need any help etc. Happy Turkey Day..cheers....
Well, there it begins.....the question of calculating your last moves with your phone....
So I went to work in the kitchen and cooked a Turkey falling asleep around 2:00 am. When I woke, I walked the dogs; had my coffee; and read the Boston Globe. I noticed the phone missing but I thought and knew would find it....I recalled all my last moves and whereabouts but still no phone....luckily it was a Holiday-ThanksGiving and clients should not be calling me...but how could I wish family members and friends a Happy ThanksGiving....yes I could use my MacPro by texting or calling from my Google account...but certainly not the same....and it would be strange walking the dogs with my MacPro up to my ears :).
So, later that night I cleaned the house like a madman. I checked all the cars over and over. I questioned myself again and again...I even went to my neighbors house, checked in their car and under the hood thinking maybe we used the phone flashlight and left it there....
Now comes disappointment. How could I loose my phone. I am careful; and I have my CC and Driver's License in the LAER card holder attached to the back...and I use the phone 80% for business. Further, studies have shown how phones will replace computers for the majority of users and now I feel how lost I am without one. I feel trapped as I don't want to drive without my license or credit cards. In addition, if I were to break down, since I recently had to charge my battery from Oshyn leaving lights on in the back, I would not have a phone to call AAA etc.
So Friday, I go back to cleaning and ripping up the sofas. Detaching where I could ... still nothing...I called Verizon my provider for 24 years..after on hold for 30 minutes they told me U switched 3 months ago......they were right ... I went to Sprint ...far better plan and a local rep I can walk right into when I have questions. I called them and they helped me with my Find my phone app. Yet, a dead battery won't help you will it...and I believed it is still in the house....but could it have been thrown out with the garbage bags? So I went dumpster diving. Yes, I looked in both trash barrels and nothing..But I felt relieved...at least it was not there and ruined by rain and moisture.
So I went back to my memory and said, well you were on the coach and the dogs were sleeping with you.....it must be there..... Turns out Lincoln had slept on it and most likely pushed the phone in deep and as right up against the metal that on my last look .... there it was nestled right against the black metal matching up to the color....Wow ... it was found...once charged the Find My Phone App was buzzing and I was truly relieved....the joy of finding your phone without having to deal with getting a new one; in addition of not having to download and upload your apps and photos; and then realizing how valuable mobile devices have become to our daily life.
So Jay what is the point? Our phones and mobile devices are the indispensable factor or influence that gives something its strength and vitality. Also known as the Life Blood of our activities.
