It's My Turn To Step Up and Volunteer

I live in the Saddle Rock Golf Community in southeast Aurora.  Within the Saddle Rock community, there are sub-neighborhoods with their own HOA.  Of course, we all still fall under the Saddle Rock Master HOA as well.

In my neighborhood, there are less than 100 homes for our specific HOA.  We still need a board to manage the HOA and make sure everything is going to plan as layed out in the covenants.

Tonight is the annual HOA meeting where new board members are elected.  There are 4 positions which will be vacated tonight and they need new blood!

I have been asked by numerous neighbors to step up and become one of the 4 new HOA board members.

This is a job that no one seems to want.

I sent in my "Board Member Statement of Interest Form" and will gladly accept the position if I am elected tonight.

If you want things to run smoothly, you sometimes need to become involved and be part of the solution rather than the problem.

Good morning, Belinda --- good for you.

Lots of work --- a few headaches -- more than one issue to juggle at a time.

Oh -- and no pay too.

Hmm -- this might be great blogging-fodder-in-the-making.

Yes I am sure it will be challenging and that whole no pay thing....  but its all good.  If I want things to be done right, I need to get involved.

With less than 100 homes in the association, it most likely won't be a lot of work. I haven't served on ours but my husband has. Good for you stepping up to the plate. It'll be a good way to know some of your neighbors a little better in your meetings.

One would think this would be a cake walk, but since our HOA takes care of front yard landscape and snow removal, there are lots of issues to deal with.

Good for you, Belinda Spillman  .  Being involved with your HOA can be a thankless job in which you hear nothing but complaints, but it is so important for the well being of everyone in your community.
