Meriden – Festival of Silver Lights


festival of lightsCome see the Festival of Silver Lights a spectacular illuminating display of more than 350,000 twinkling white lights of over 200 lighted characters throughout the park.

There is no cost to drive through the park and enjoy the many displays of not just holiday lights but beautiful light displays shaped in the forms of animals nestled in the park’s natural environment of trees and on the ponds.   

When:  November 22, 2016 – January 3, 2017

Times(s):  Open daily 5 pm to midnight.

Admission:  Free.

East Windsor – Winterfest & The Tunnel of Lights

Hop on the trolley in East Windsor for Winterfest & The Tunnel of Lights and ride the tracks under the starlit skies on a 3 mile ride on The Montréaler.  Need something warmer?  There’s an enclosed trolley too. 

Cap off your visit at the Teresealee Bertinuson Visitor Center where you’ll be captivated with the layouts of functioning model trains and where the kids can sit on Santa’s lap and receive a gift.

Proceeds go right back into upkeep of the museum and trolley restoration.

When:  November 25, 2016 – December 30, 2016

Hartford – Holiday Light Fantasia

The 2-mile drive through the park is a winter wonderland of 200 displays and over 1 million lights. All proceeds benefit year-round programs at Channel 3 Kids Camp.

When:  November 24, 2016 – January 1, 2017

Time(s):  Sun.-Thu. 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Fri. & Sat. 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Tuesday December 27th – Military Appreciation Night
Free admission to veterans and active service personnel when they show a valid military or veteran association issued ID.

New Haven – Lighthouse Point Park Fantasy of Lights

fantasy of lights 2Celebrate the 22nd season of Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven. Drive through a magical land of spectacular, sparkling  light displays.   The Fantasy of Lights has become a early tradition for so many families from all over the state who come back each year.  

This year you’ll be dazzled by the mile long display over 60 animated light displays of over 100,000 brilliant twinkling lights.

All of the money raised helps to support East Seals Goodwill Industries’ programs right here in the Greater New Haven area.  Their mission is to enhance employment as well as education, social and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and other challenges.

When:  November 18, 2016 – January 1, 2017

Time(s):  Sun.-Thu. 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Lake Compounce – Holiday Lights

Want to see the tallest Christmas tree in Connecticut?  Then a visit to Holiday Lights at Lake Compounce featuring a 100 foot tall Christmas tree is a must!

Christmas amusement parkJoin in the fun with a ride on the North Pole Railway, caroling, pictures with Santa & story telling with Mrs. Claus.  Selected family and children’s rides will be open. 

You’ll be enchanted with the thousands of sparkling lights covering the park with spectacular light shows every half  hour set to music.

When:  November 25, 2016 – December 18, 2016

Thomaston – Northern Lights Limited & Santa Express

Santa Express

Saturdays and Sundays beginning November 29th.  The Santa Express  leaves at 12 noon and 2 p.m. Santa Express Tickets and Scheduling.

 

 Mystic Seaport – Lantern Light Tours

Decorative glowing lantern at nightHow about taking a step back in time to Christmas Eve 1876 and take part in a New England holiday tradition Lantern Light Tours at Mystic Seaport.    

Visitors of all ages can experience the celebration of Christmas featuring the beautiful glow of lanterns, horse drawn carriage rides and tavern dancing as it was in a 19th century seafaring town. 

Each performance is 70 minutes held in all weather conditions covering a half mile of grass, wood planking, gravel, stairs and cobblestone so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. 

When: November 25, 26, December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18 and 23 / snow date: December 20

Time(s):  Tours begin at 5 p.m. and leave every 15 minutes.

Admission:  Adult members $26 non members $32

Ages 5-17 members $19 non members $25

Ages 4 and under are Free.
