Can Not Make the Real Estate Stories Up- It's Truth Untold
Now covering for another agent this past week who was on a wonderful vacation is usually fine. However, when I get a call from the agent to kindly take a look at her own house where a house sitter was can be a different call. You only expect the best but he had not answered her text in 2 days so she became concerned about her pets in the house.
So I go over to check it out and immediately upon opening the front door I notice this strong 'windexy smell' in the air. What is that about i think as I sniff, sniff, sniff...and then another smell arises (all this as the two dogs are thrilled to see me). I look down at the wall to wall carpeting and notice 'dog poo' ingrained in the rug all over. It seems the house sitter stepped in something he should not have outside, I assume, and then came in the house and tracked it all over. Yes, it was a smelly mess on two floors. No presence of the house sitter but the dogs did look like they were let out and fed well.
So with an associate we tried to lift off the dried up droppings but they were solidly set into the carpet, rented a shampooer machine and did our best. Since they were arriving that day...well I warned them to watch where they stepped as they headed for the house. As for the house sitter...he texted my associate that everything was 'terrible' that day. Believing he was just being funny I am sure but he has not responded to her latest request for answers.
Just a reminder that there is never a dull moment in real estate and even a vacation can be more than eventful when coming home. Be wary of vetting your house sitter!
