I am in New York this weekend with my husband, Bill, to see our grandson - and by extension., our son and daughter in law. Last April I bought tickets to the first Annual College Hockey Showdown between North Dakota and Boston College where my husband and daughter attended. Our daughter is living in DC now so I got five tickets last April and she came up too to spend time with her brother and her nephew.
I've never been to an event at Madison Square Garden so that was fun just to see a sporting event there. Security was tight - I guess that is to be expected. The entire place was filled with North Dakota fans. When North Dakota scored (4 times!) the place rocked! They were fun to watch. The BC fans were enthusiastic but nothing like the ND fans - who unfortunately had more to cheer about!
The big ah-ha I had was the following
i didn't remember where our seats were because I had bought them last April - I just knew that they were in section 8, row 2. When we got to the Garden and found our section and started walking down the stairs, I realized they were right behind the goal in the second row. They were awesome seats. We saw all the action.
They were inexpensive seats times five but they were so worth it. It was fun to sit that close to the action And it was fun to share a great evening with my children. So often we work for the mortgage payment or utilities and the Visa bill or the status of closing fifty or a hundred transactions. Some times we should work for the fun - for the good times we can share with our family and friends- for the things in our bucket list.
I am vowing to treat myself better in 2017 and to make sure that I am working for some fun goals too. And a picture from last night is going on my office wall to make sure I do.
