We may live in the land of perpetual summer, but that doesn't mean we don't know how to rock the holiday season in style!  If you live in Panama City or the surrounding area, this month is packed full of fun and exciting things to do to celebrate the holidays.

As most long time residents know, each year the Oaks by the Bay Park in St. Andrews transforms into a beautiful winter wonderland!  The entire park is filled with light displays, from the pathways to the tops of the gorgeous old oak trees.  If you stop by on Friday nights, you'll even be able to purchase a cup of hot chocolate to enjoy during your stroll.  This event is a treat for kids and adults alike, so head out there any night from now until Christmas and have your camera ready to take lots of pictures!

Tonight, Frank Brown Park in Panama City Beach will be holding their annual Christmas tree lighting celebration from 6 to 8 pm!  Bring the family and enjoy music by local school band groups, drop your wish list off with Santa, and stick around for the lighting of the amazing tree!  The Cops n' Kids foundation will also be on hand to accept any donations of new, unwrapped gifts - you can have a great time while making a difference in a needy child's life, what could be better?

This Saturday is PACKED with events!  Start your day off right at Margaritaville by having lunch with Santa!  You can sip on some hot cocoa, color a picture, or write a letter to our troops overseas in the craft corner.  The Salvation Army Angel Tree will be on site as well, so you can choose a child in need and provide the gift of their dreams this year! And of course, feel free to sit down and enjoy some of the wonderful food and drinks in this classic, beach-themed restaurant.

From there, head on over to the St. Andrews Marina and secure your spot to watch the 30th annual Christmas Boat Parade of Lights!  This is a truly unique local event that is not to be missed!  From 4 pm to 10 pm, you and your loved ones will be treated to a great parade of boats decorated from stem to stern!  These locals go all out, so you never know what kind of amazing things you'll see!

Or, if you prefer to enjoy your parades on land, the Optimist Club of the Beaches will be hosting a Christmas parade starting at 5 pm in Pier Park!  These guys just love to throw out candy canes and toys to parade goers young and old, so get a spot up close so you can grab those goodies and enjoy the beautiful floats!

For a more traditional Christmas celebration, take a trip over to the Captain Anderson's Marina and take a stroll through the Bethlehem Christmas Village.   The marina is transformed into a minituare city, where you can try to find room at the inn, listen to tales of life as a stable boy in Bethlehem, interact with animals in the barn, and enjoy this authentic Christmas setting.  Food and drink merchants will be on hand, and this event will run from the 14th through the 17th from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm.

Finally, wrap up your holiday season by attending the amazing Broadway Christmas Wonderland show at the Marina Civic Center on the 19th!  With singing, dancing, sparkly costumes, a kick line, and of course, Santa, this show is sure to be a hit with kids of all ages!

I'm sure I've missed a few things here and there, but needless to say, Panama City Beach is a great place to spend the holidays!  We may not have the white Christmas (unless you count sugar white sands) but we still know how to celebrate the holidays!

I'm looking out my window right now, and I'm seeing the same fog at this hour that has loomed over Sacramento all day.  Florida seems like a delightful place to warm up and spend the holidays.
