On December 1, 2016 ATTOM Data Solutions reported that nationwide 1,919,180 one to four units residential loans were originated in the 3rd quarter of 2016, declined 2.0% from 2nd quarter of 2016, and lower 1.0% from 3rd quarter of 2015. In excess of $502 billion loan origination volume in the 3rd quarter of 2016, gained 8.0% from 3rd quarter of 2015.
There were 743,880 purchase loans in the 3rd quarter of 2016, fell 8.0% from 2nd quarter of 2016, and down 11.0% from 3rd quarter of 2015. While, refinancing accounted for 876,633 loans origination in the 3rd quarter of 2016, gained 7.0% from 2nd quarter of 2016, and jumped 16.0% from 3rd quarter of 2015.
Among all 266,404 FHA loans originated in the 3rd quarter of 2016, lower 7.0% from 2nd quarter of 2016, and declined 19.8% from 2nd quarter of 2015. Veterans Administration (VA) originated 143,366 loans in the 3rd quarter of 2016, higher 2.0% from 2nd quarter of 2016, and rose 26.0% from 3rd quarter of 2015.
