But are you sure?

I just received a solicitation call from a company that I don't dislike - I just choose not to support them right now. OK, so you get calls, too.

The funny part - I'm getting to that - is that they have called every day since April 25th. Most of the time I have not taken their call, or it went to voice mail. Yesterday, I told them I appreciated their diligence and asked them not to call again - not a formal "Do Not Call List" request but a firm "don't-bother-to-call-me-because-I'm-not-interested-in-talking-to-you" request.

Well they called again, as I mentioned. I reminded them that I had asked them not to call. She starts in with her pitch. I firmly remind her again. Then she says, "Let me get this straight, you don't want any more calls from ...?" Maybe she got it this time. We'll see.

Wow, Steve. I'm sorry to hear of your frustration! But at the same time, know that you're not alone. Which company was this? Thanks and have a great day! Michael A. Caruso

She really wants you!  I loved it when my daughters were young - I always handed the phone to them when any solicitor called - it was mean of me, but funny, and they were flattered to get a phone call!

Michael, talk about not taking "no" for an answer. I have to applaud their diligence - ill-placed as it was and use this as an illustration for why nonpurposeful follow-up is a waste. Thanks, Michael.

Virginia - good idea, but no young ones around to defer to. How insensitive of them not to get the point, however.

Steve...

I actually said "yes" once and the contract they sent was not even close to the price or services we discussed on the phone. So I wouldn't sign and they wouldn't stop calling.

Richard, I'm sorry you didn't get what you thought you were getting, and this is another example of someone confusing helpful contact with just plain misdirected pestering. Thanks for your comments.

I just remind them that I'm registered with the "do not call" registry and remind them of the fines.  Usually shuts them off pretty quick.

Sandra, good idea, but that list is so much trouble that I doubt it really is that enforceable - there are so many loopholes in it.

Wow.  They sound pretty persistent.  I think they will probably call again tomorrow...  Keep us posted!  :)

Debi, you're right, but so far it's been nearly 24 hours and no call - maybe it's actually going to work this time. Besides, I don't think you really want to know if they call again - I know I don't. :)
