MINOT ND! Where Are The Snow Gates?

Real Men Of Minot

Snow Globe, Bob Timm, National Marketing Realtors, Minot NDWe have had so much snow in North Dakota in the last 10 days we have been on the prime time National News.

The first snow we had last week was 10" of very heavy snow due to the warm temps. The second snow was much lighter but with the up to 50mph wind gusts we had some very tall drifts.

Even if you own a snow thrower you still end up doing some shoveling in tighter spaces.

Snow GateI have a question for the Minot Street Department,

WHERE ARE THE SNOW GATES???

Snow gates are an attachment to the road grader blades that the operater of the grader can drop so you do not end up with the big rock hard ridge of snow at the end of your driveway.

Even on a single wide driveway this can be back breaking work for a fit young man (which leaves me out). This ridge can even be hell on most snow throwers because it's packed down snow and ice from off the street.

Obviously I'm writing this post because they have not been using the snow gates during the last two storms. I'm wondering... where are they Minot ND?

I used to hate snow because I worked in the transportation business and had 75 trucks on the road per day. Now I love the snow and we are expecting our first snowfall either tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks Bob "RealMan" Timm

I understand that Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington . Worrying about a couple of family members is bad enough but 75 employees would be a nightmare. I hope you don't get hit as hard as we did with the snow.

Lucky for me I did not have any showing appointments during these storms Raymond E. Camp so I could work from home without a hitch. Hope all goes well for you.

Bob, our area stopped using them because they hit so many mailboxes and had to replace them

Sounds like they need to hire some better drivers or make sure they get their eyes examined William Feela

Didn't you read my Farmer's Almanac predictions post a few months ago? We all have to be prepared for a very wicked, cold.... freezing cold, arctic blast, blustery blizzard like conditions for 2016 - 2017 Winter season! Even Texas and Florida won't be spared.

Be safe on the roads ya'll!!! I am so grateful I bought my first winter coat in 19 years when I went to Switzerland last month. I needed it today.

I did read the post Patricia Feager but I hoped that ignoring it would make it not come true. I could be on Dr. Phil now and hear him say "How did that work out for you".

Bob "RealMan" Timm - LOL about Dr. Phil. But I want to say thank you for remembering that I warned you. Most people never remember what I say.

Yours truly,
Dr. Feager

I do not think they have learned about snow gates in our area. I have to get out the shovel every time.

In the past the Minot Street Department was very good about it but this year they are batting a big fat ZERO Roy Kelley .

OMG, having grown up in Saskatchewan I feel your pain!  I remember the snow plows piling it up in the middle of the wide roads, and it was always a huge mountain which was fun to play on as kids.  But I have left all that behind and don't miss it at all.  Wishing you a short winter with lots of sunshine.

Thanks Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 I'd like to eventually move South myself (and thaw out). Hawaii would be a GREAT choice.

Sorry to hear that Bob "RealMan" Timm, hope it will all melt soon. Stay safe on the road.

This snow will most likely be here until May of 2017 Beth Atalay and then hopefully it won't melt to fast or we will be facing another big flood. We are now into the subzero temps... no fun at all.

Bob, perhaps a call to the City may help.  It certainly seems like such a shame to have them and not be using them.  Terrible inconvenience to homeowners.

It sure is Kathleen Daniels . I know if I call the City they will say they are just so far behind they want to cover as much ground as possible.

Does all that snow shut down the real estate business? Brrrr. It looks really cold, Bob.

It doesn't shut it down Debbie Reynolds but it sure seperates the "Lookie Lou's" from the serious Buyers and Sellers.

Adsolutely! They were very good at using them here in the past so I have to assume they are not being used now just because they were so far behind they couldn't slow down to use them Vern Eaton
