How Strong are Your Whys?

Are your Whys Strong Enough?

He who has a why to live for

can bear almost with any how

- Friedrich Nietzsche

Often times how we get there is not nearly as important as why we need to get there.

We may not be willing to jump out of a plane for a thousand dollars.

Maybe we would we for a million.

Maybe we would we if our life depended on it, how about if our children's lives depended on it?

When writing and updating your goals this year, think about and write down the "why" behind each of the goals.

If there is not a why, then maybe it is not a goal worth working toward and maybe it is time to focus on a goal that does have a significant "why " behind it.

Very good Bob. Good planning. For each strategy, there should be a goal attached to it as well as a yield.

Bob, I agree that without a strong "why" our motivation may not be strong enough to put us into action.

Hi Bob,
Not getting in touch with your true "whys" is a recipe for failure.  Thanks for the reminder.  Merry Christmas!

Bob, Not sure if I've got one big WHY or a bunch of little whys, but I don't have trouble finding motivation to keep doing what I'm doing.  Goals to reach and a limited time to get there.  Bill

Hi Bob

It's certainly an interesting question for us to be asking ourselves with respect to goals.

But I think it's also quite relevant in other situations, especially when buyers, or sellers, say they need this or that. Understanding the why could be very telling. And perhaps they might realize that while they want something there is no reasonable justification. Or we might assume there is no real why when in fact there is a very compelling reason why.

Bob, you always give sage advice. I really like asking the "why" for each of our goals, and everything we spend time doing. Thank you for all you give us here on Active Rain.

I have attended classes that discussed having powerful Why.

The class starts by asking the participants to state their why.

Most have no or very weak whys and that is the key to how their business goes.
