When is a good time to sell? Ummm...it depends.

I love hearing the old saw about anytime being a great time to sell. I think what this old saying is trying to tell us is that agents would like a paycheck anytime. Well, if you truly have the best interests of your client in mind, it may not always be the best time to sell.

I have had several recent conversations with clients interested in selling their homes. One needed to have some work done on their home and it would not be finished until late in the year. We all agreed that getting the work done and then listing in the Spring would probably get the home sold faster and for more money.

Another interested seller asked me if he should put his home on the market January 1. I suggested late February as this is just before the Spring market in his area. He actually thanked me for being honest and up front with him.

So, no matter what you hear, NOW may not be the correct answer to when is the best time to list my home? The correct answer is it depends.

Very true, Peter den Boer . Now may not be the best time for your client. And real estate professionals need to remember that they work for their clients. The timing for a listing is what is best for them!
