The holiday season is a fun time for road races. For some runners, the end of the year represents down-time in their training, time to enjoy a lighter schedule while maintaining fitness. For others, the end of the year is the start of their "in" season, and holiday races can represent a ramp-up to a bigger event such as a marathon. And of course, for many runners, the holiday races simply help to prevent holiday weight gain.
