Oakland/Wayne County Michigan Real Estate Agent Outdoor Adventures

Real Estate Agents do more than just buy and sell real estate, many of us are part of the local community.  Many of us are involved in some way or another whether it is little league sports, education involvement, outdoor activities, community politics and much more.  Hello we are the Real Estate Busy Bee Team located in Livonia and Northville Michigan.  We decided toLoading Truck for Kayaking Trip Kensington Metro Park jump outside the box and discuss some great things to do in our general area.  I would love to take a moment and discuss some of the great local adventures you can take in our area.  Some of our local adventures will simply be minutes from home while others may be a few hours, our goal is to highlight some of the great things Michigan has to offer.   To many times in meeting local Novi/Livonia area residents I hear they have never even known some of these great things existed.  With this in mind we thought why not share and get out and see what's out there for ourselves.  If you are interested in following along with us please visit our you tube page South East Michigan Adventures with Real Estate Agent Bob Jakowinicz.  We will frequently update our youtube page along with our Facebook page with some of the latest Michigan adventures and many real estate updates.

Kensington Metro Park.  I can't say enough about what Kensington has to offer.  This park is absolutely gorgeous and is very easy to access from the real estate area's we serve.   About a 20-25 minute drive from Livonia/Novi/Northville/Farmington Hills/Area there is really endless outdoor activities here.  From kayaking, swimming, disc golfing, pic nics, running/walking trails, nature center and I'm sure much more.  We like to take our own kayaks to Kensington (you can rent them and many other items on location) and adventure around the more tranquil beautiful parts of the approximately 1200 acre Kent Lake.  Here are a few pictures (from various trips) and a video link Kensington Metro Park Kayak Day from the summer of 2016.   From left to right, loading up our suv with kayaks (have truck now), eagle flying over us and a couple of Sand Hill Cranes following us around.

Kayaking Runs within 45 minutes of Livonia/Novi/Northville Area.

Portage Flook Dam Bob JakowiniczKayaking in between Dexter and Ann Arbor area.  If you have an opportunity you can launch your own kayaks or rent them and kayak the stretch of the Huron River out in the Dexter/Ann Arbor area.  This is many people I have been with favorite kayak run in our area.  Here is a brief video clip of our last run down this stretch of river Portage Lake to Delhi Mills Kayak Run Bob Jakowinicz.  We are portaging Flook Dam in the picture you see to your left.  We love to do this while many may not, you can see you have to get out of kayak and pull it over the designated area.  Every dam we have come to is pretty prepared for this, some of them even have wheeled devices to assist.  Being around a dam is very dangerous and needs to be respected at all times, we never get to close as these are where accident's have happened if your not careful.

Kayaking in Proud Lake is also a great experience.  We noticed the river is typically a bit slower in thisProud Lake Kensington Sign area so many can go either way they choose on the river (Huron River).  From our video of this kayak run we could've went into Milford/Camp Dearborn area or even all the way into Kent Lake in Kensington Metro Park.  We decided on this day to start off going up river into Proud Lake, we put in at Wixom Road and the Huron River.  Here is our Proud Lake Video, we also highly recommend this run.  The picture you see to your right is when we were headed towards Milford.  You will find many people kayaking this area as there is a couple of company's locally that will rent you the kayak and pick you up down river.  We have also tried that and had a remarkable day with excellent service by the local rental company.

Quad/Dirt Bike/Snowmobiling Trail Riding Northern Michigan

Quad Riding Wolverine Michigan Fall ColorsAll of this is relatively new to us as we started kayaking, hiking (both 2015), quad riding (fall 2016) and dirt-bike riding (spring 2016).  In the fall of 2016 we have to say was a bucket list item for us.  We decided to buy a couple of quads (2003 Polaris Trailblazers 400 and 250) and then for our first ride we viewed the changing colors of northern Michigan.  Here is some video of that experience-- Riding Quads Leaves Changing Vanderbilt/Wolverine Michigan.   From where we rode on this video was approximately 225 miles from the Livonia/Novi/Area.  This is not exactly the easy day trips you may see up post about more frequently but a great adventure in the state of Michigan.  Riding in the St. Helen area is also a great area to ride your off road vehicle.  Here are two videos of us riding in the St. Helen Michigan area, St. Helen scramble area and sand hill and riding St. Helen a little late in the fall color season.

Hi Bob

This is a wonderful post about Michigan with a ton of information for residents and visitors. Anyone considering a move to your area will appreciate all that you have shared here, along with the expert guidance you can also provide to their home search and purchase. We lived in Dearborn Heights for about 5 years while I was in grad school before moving to Boston. We still have some family there in Bay City and Frankenmuth.

Jeff

Jeff, Dearborn Heights is not all that far away.  Many of these local outings are just as easy to do from there.  We get in the Bay City and Frankenmuth area a few times a year, Frankenmuth is gorgeous right now.

Can't wait til summer to enjoy some sunshine in Michigan!  I guess the good thing about all of these gloomy January days is that the sun shines so much brighter when we have it!
