We have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to some interesting locations. One of them was Greece back in the early 90's. It is a country with strong sense of history and cultural heritage. Centered in Athens is a hilltop known as the Acropolis.
This flat topped area encompasses over 7 acres and at one time was occupied by 4 large buildings.
The years have taken their toll and all but one are left in any resemblance of structure, and that would be the Parthenon, which was a large temple built to honor the Greek Goddess, Athena.
The area is accessible with a walk from the lower levels directly from the market place or agora.
The building is constantly under staging and either for support of the structure, or some rebuilding. The day we walked uo there, we must have just gotten there before the workers had taken a break. Either for lunch or just a quick repast.
We did manage to capture of one of the locals sitting. Must have gotten tired after all the time spent inside.
We all reach that point eventually. Greece is a lovely country to explore, and just maybe we'll get a chance to go again someday.
