December 16 is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day! YEA!!!
Thanks for the notice Kathy Streib !
Yes, a day to celebrate!
I agree that white and much of the milk do not really qualify as chocolate, dark is best and often with a hint of mint.
Enjoy the dipping!

December 16 is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day! YEA!!!
While I like to celebrate this every day of the year, December 16 is a day specially marked to celebrate all things covered in chocolate!
I may not know the origins of this day, but I do know how to celebrate it!!!
Now, for those of you who choose not to indulge in chocolate, that means more for the rest of us!
Some things to know…
~For most chocolate connoisseurs, there’s dark chocolate and milk chocolate. Period. White chocolate just isn’t chocolate.
~Dark chocolate with a high cocoa content (70%+)has been shown to have certain health benefits.
~However...dark chocolate still carries with it sugar, fat, and calories. (moderation please!)
~Americans eat 2.8 Billion pounds of chocolate each year, or about 11 pounds per person per year.
And, another interesting factoid…
During World War II, Milton Hershey was commissioned by the US government to produce a candy bar that our soldiers could carry with them as part of their rations. And during the Persian Gulf War, Hershey produced over a million Desert Bars that would be able to withstand the 140-degree desert heat
What to cover? Anything you like!
But in case you need some help…
Bananas, strawberries, apples, apricots, and orange slices
Popcorn
Pretzels
Potato chips
Bacon
Cookies
Cake
Marshmallows
Nuts
And, just in case you want someone else to do the work, here are some of my favorite purveyors of all things chocolate in the Delray Beach area…
