It's no secret that Northern California citizens have been happy to see rain fall on our drought parched cities and towns recently. A storm that blew through yesterday, dumped 1.84 inches in 24 hours, breaking our previous record for the date set in 1929.
This morning, I ventured out to gather a few items at our local grocery store. A short distance away is Nimbus Dam. It's the first time I've seen every gate at the dam open in a very long time. A few fishermen who had not been adequately warned about rapidly rising water levels in the last few days, found themselves trapped on little islands in the American River and had to be rescued. Nimbus has a siren system, which worked periodically today, while I was snapping these pictures!
The amount of water flowing presented very welcome views!
