You Want A Pushy Agent To Help You Buy Your Home?

By
Real Estate Agent with Transaction Alliance 513.520.5305 www.LizTour.com SAL.2002007747

pushThen you might not want to hire me to help if that's the type of agent you want.

I'm here to serve quite a few purposes when you're buying a home:

  • To help you find homes that match your needs
  • To show you homes that interest you
  • To provide information about those homes we see
  • To provide pricing reviews of similar homes along with understanding trends either up or down
  • To know the neighborhood and the pros and cons
  • To answer any questions that I'm allowed to answer (there are certain categories that violate Fair Housing that are untouchable)
  • To guide you through the process from start to finish

Now what I'm not here to do?

To push you into a making a decision that you're not ready to make, even if it means you lose a house you're interested in.

You may regret that loss, and I may too, but I'm here to provide you the information you need to make the best possible informed decision and either pursue or not pursue purchasing a home.  The key thing is YOU DECIDE.

I'll let you know the risks of not deciding, primarily that another buyer may act while you're thinking about it.  Some times the risk is pretty high that even thinking about it overnight will be costly.

But again, what I'm NOT going to do is push you to make a decision before you're ready.  You'll have all the pros and cons to making your decision right in front of you.  I'll have the paperwork ready, but until you say GO, we're not going.

And if you say GO?  That's when I start pushing to get you that home.  THEN is when I'm a pushy agent!

Just give us a call or text at 513-520-5305 or email Liz@Lizspear.com to get started.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Nick & Trudy, I agree there's a lot of misunderstanding about our roles.  Keep that clear and the work should be smoother.

Teri, We're looking for them to be happy and for us too.

Pushing the process, nothing let to swing in the wind when time is everything. Hustling in a good way to find out where the real estate kink in the hose is.. that is Johnny on the spot and those delaying the process don't like the cattle prod but someone has to get this deal to the closing on time. Life's hinge on it and time is money.

For the most part, I don't think folks like "pushy" especially for this type of purchase.  Some do though and think they want an agent that's going to encourage them to low ball every offer and get them the deal of the century or something.  When I find out if that's the type of buyer I'm working with, we generally part ways fairly quickly.

Great article Liz and Bill!

This principle is important to remember since sometimes hard selling isn't the best way to try and promote something. The customer's care always comes first, and that means making sure they are getting the best resources and care that they need.

You got it right. Yes, show the best properties that meet the criterion and then it is up to the buyer.

Kristin, Thanks!

Andy, No doubt as we go through the process after the contract, there are times we definitely have to push to find the information needed and to protect our clients.  I can be pretty persistent when needed.

Brenda, I tend to look at it this way and tell my buyers this:  "If the sellers wanted to take 20% off the listing price to get the home sold, do you think they'd be priced how they are?".  They usually get it after that.  Sure, we're going to work to get a good deal for them, but we need to be realistic too.

Brivity, We've found if we take care of them through the house hunting process, they're with us for life (well at least as long as we make sure we stay in contact as we should).

Gary, We set the table, after that, it's up to the buyer.

Liz and Bill great post! The last thing I want my clients to think is that I pushed them into making a decision that was hasty and they regret it later!

Lyn, It doesn't work on me either.  Those soliciting me need to show me value and the "special price if you buy before I hang up" pitch is a no go.

Alek, Exactly!  We force, guess who gets the blame later?

Great post! I agree when you get pushy, it can make your client uncomfortable and steer them into making a decision that they shouldn't.

Very well said Bill and Liz. I hate pushy sales people, so I do not want anyone on my team to be that. We walk through homes with our clients, without saying a lot, just there to answer questions, unless there are things to point out that they might not otherwise learn about, but I certainly do not need to tell them "this is the kitchen", "here is the bathroom", ect.

Tom, It's about looking to add value isn't it?  The obvious is the obvious, so what can we add that helps the buyer make a decision?  Be it yes or no, or maybe, at least classifying a home and moving on if need be.

I once called to find out price, location, date, time, etc. regarding a seminar that I wanted to attend. When the salesman said I had to decide and purchase the tickets right then, I said "Fine. Then my decision is No."

Pushy salesmen send me running the other way.

Marte, No difference here.  If something is ONLY a good idea to purchase while we're on the phone together, odds are that it's not a good idea.  If there's true value, it'll still be valuable tomorrow.

Love it, BLiz - there's a time to push, and a time to sit back and let others make the decisions that will affect them.  It's valuable to work with an agent that knows the difference!

John, It's a HUGE decision and we want our buyers (and sellers) to be making the RIGHT decision for them.

Fred,  I'll use all my expertise to help them get the home they want, once they know they want it.

Paul, I'll take a professional agent that knows it's about the clients and not the agents any day.
