Breaking News! Katy/Rosenberg - Dog of the Week ADOPTED!!
I published this past week a post concerning my Dog of the Week available for adoption. His name is Dexter ID 9677. I spent a fairly large amount of time with Dexter last Saturday as I am a volunteer at the Fort Bend County Animal Services Animal Shelter in Rosenberg TX. I hoped by making him my Dog of the Week he would get adopted. I also posted his information from the Shelter’s web site on other social media sites using their system. In addition, I also posted a article about the Shelter holding a Pet Holiday Photos with Santa on this past Friday as the event was held yesterday December 17, 2016. I included Dexter’s picture that I took.
Dexter was traumatized and very scared when I first saw him in his pen last Saturday. He is a small Chihuahua and Terrier mix as well as being very skinny. I suspect he was abused based on his actions. He would not venture from his bed. I went into his room and he hid in his shelter bed. I gave him treats and had to almost feed these treats to him. He was shaking and was terrified.
I tried to take him for a walk but I had to carry him as he was so scared. He sat on my lap as I tried to calm him down, I visited him several times after I put him back in his pen and gave him treats. The last few times he actually came to the front of the pen to get his treat(s). I bring my own treats as I know these are good for all pups.
I fretted about him all week as I was afraid the shelter would do permanent damage to a very sweet little dog. Why someone would have dumped him is beyond my understanding. We had decided we would let anything bad happen to Dexter!
Yesterday I went to volunteer. On my way into the building for volunteers to register and I ran into Barbara Vass who is in charge of shelter adoptions. My first statement was how is Dexter? She smiled and said Dexter was adopted about 5 minutes or so ago to a very nice couple. I was thrilled and happy beyond belief. Volunteering in mind is all about assisting with saving any pups life. Later my day even got better and I will published a separate post about this experience!
