Balloons. Build A Bear. The Whole Disney Store to explore. That was the best day ever for Ruby, thanks to Abby Stephens (daughter of April Stephens) and The Best Day Ever Foundation.
Abby has always had a passion for helping others and has raised thousands of dollars for charities including Children's Miracle Network, Bobs Buddies, and more. She had a vision to create an organization that would provide others with opportunities or gifts they may not have otherwise had and The Best Day Ever Foundation was born! She envisions it to be a hyperlocal idea of foundations like Make A Wish. Abby has also written an inspirational song called Best Day Ever that notes that when the world is helping each other, working together, and loving one another, it creates the "Best Day Ever".
We are honored to have met one of the most incredible little girls! Ruby may seem small but she is a firecracker! Being born with down syndrome hasn't slowed her down on bit! Her smile is absolutely contagious and she is incredibly smart. She can sign over 100 signs signifying what she wants or needs. She loves anything Disney and Princess and is the princess of her family. Unfortunately, her family was devastatingly affected by the flooding of Hurricane Matthew and the loss of her baby brother in 2016.
In hopes of brightening their spirits, Abby Stephens and The Best Day Ever Foundation took Ruby on a shopping spree to the Disney store at Crabtree Valley Mall so she could be the Princess that she is!
The Disney store was wonderful! They provided Ruby with a gift bag of goodies and a KEY to the store! Abby escorted Ruby down "Pixy Dust Lane' and through the store, where she got to choose toys and play with anything her heart desired! We were honored to be able to provide Ruby with so many wonderful things she deserved and hoped to help provide a wonderful Christmas for her!
This family exuded positivism in the midst of tragedy, which is easy to understand once you meet Ruby, She exudes JOY! Her smile is infectious and her love for people and of course toys was incredible! It was truly a gift that we got to meet Ruby and we cannot wait to see what is in store in her future!
