Who doesn't love to look at holiday lights as we enjoy the December festivities which for most of us include seeing the Christmas Lights in Phoenix?  While we don't experience a white Christmas, there is no limit of homes that twinkle and sparkle with light displays, lights in the palm trees, decorated cacti and animation set to music.  Here are just a few of the many valley homes to include in your Christmas outings.

Ahwatukee  

The Santa Train Home

541 E. Mountain Sky Ave. Phoenix, Az

You won't want to miss this amazing home in Ahwatukee with over 18,000    LED lights.  This is the 38th year the train has delighted holiday visitors ( 38 years ago in Baltimore, MD and now celebrating 26 years in Ahwatukee.)  When you visit your eyes will feast on a train rounding the tracks, many light displays, an animated Ferris Wheel, Snowflakes and a Christmas flash to music, see an animated Rudolph Hoisting Santa to the Roof, Frosty Makes it snow on the 1/2 hour Friday, Saturday & Sunday,  Animated Christmas Characters using the Teeter Totter, see the Volcano as it erupts when the train passes.  Donations are being accepted for the Phoenix Children's hospital (PCH). (last year in 2015, $3300 was donated to PHC)

Dates and Times:   Until January 1, 2017. Open nightly until 11:00 PM and giving away candy canes to the kids until 10 PM. Snow making Friday & Saturday every 20 minutes.

Ahwatukee - Contestant on the Great Christmas Light Fight

3611 E Kachina Dr. Phoenix, Az

You will be dazzled by the 100,000 lights showcasing this Ahwatukee home.  This amazing light display is also participating in the Great Christmas Light Fight featured on ABC for 2016.  Check out the more than 200 hand cut wooden figures, a mailbox to leave a letter for Santa (we were all letters will be answered!). Enjoy the sleigh and periodic visits from Santa.

Dates and Times: Nightly through December 2016.

Ahwatukee Sparkler

15244 S 36th Pl, Phoenix, AZ

Here is the place to experience "snow" in Phoenix!  You will enjoy the 30,000 lights showcasing the falling snow. Enjoy the music of "Let it Snow" and see the blowing snow at the end of the song.  If you children haven't seen snow before, this may be the place for you.

Dates and Times:  Through January 1, 2016, from 6 PM to 10 PM

Ahwatukee - Lakewood
16002 S 36th St. Phoenix, AZ

Don’t miss this wonderful light display in Ahwatukee in the Lakewood subdivision.  You will think this is the home of the Griswolds as the lights project high into the sky and the trees twinkle endlessly.  As you drive through the Lakewood community in Ahwatukee you will see many lights on homes including some along the lake, which reflects from the lakes.

Dates and Times:  now through January 5, 2017.

Is this the North Pole? Where else can you see a 10 ft wall of angels, a 12 foot Christmas tree, over 50 Nutcrackers, train sets, a 65 house holiday village complemented y 30,000 lights decorating the house and trees?  Add in Santa Clause and this is a must-see Ahwatukee favorite.

Dates and Times: Open to the public on December 21, 2016, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Tempe

Tempe Christmas Spectacular
8535 South Stanley Place, Tempe, Az  

Don’t miss this annual must-see Christmas light display made up of more than 400,000 lights, lovingly assembled by Shawn Benson, who started this Christmas light tradition many years ago.  See the three huge trees lit up with holiday cheer.  More lights cover the house and yard.    The kids will love the huge 30 foot animated Santa greeting all visitors. Every weekend, the Benson residence will have Santa sitting outside handing out candy and hot cocoa while the fire is lit until the week before Christmas. Everyone is welcome to come by and enjoy the holiday spirit!

Tempe Cartoon Characters

See the many holiday scenes, including Santa's North Pole Workshop, a complete nativity scene, Winter Wonderland, and a singing choir singing Christmas Carols, plus many more dazzling lights. Their scenes feature many amazing characters.

Mesa  

Natal Circle Delight

Fourteen houses in this Mesa cul-de-sac twinkle as homeowners once again create one of the best places to see holiday lights in the east valley.  You will see glowing bulbs, animated characters, and various inflatable holiday friends.  For years, this neighborhood has encouraged all residences to break out their finest holiday decorations and lights to fill their cul-de-sac with a memorable holiday experience.  Everyone selects their choice of lighting and themes and it all blends together for a magical experience for children and adults alike. You will see everything from cartoon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants to more traditional sets of the birth of Jesus.  Don’t worry, Santa appears in the form of a huge blow-up along with his sleight.

Mesa Tradition

You won’t want to miss this Mesa tradition featuring more than 30,000 lights, trees and other decorations synced to holiday songs—tune your radio to 107.5 FM for the full experience.  For more information go to   mesachristmas.com.

Chandler

14 Sparkling Homes Unite!

6480 W Orchard Lane, Chandler, Az

Don't miss this 14 house display as neighbors come together to decorate with over 100,000 lights.  Enjoy pictures with Santa on his sleigh from 6 pm - 9 pm on Saturdays (December 10 & 17).   This community will also collect canned foods for local food pantries.

Date and Time: December 10 & 17, from 6 PM to 9 PM

2106 N Arrowhead, Chandler, Az

Over 80,000 lights cover this amazing home. Delight in the reindeer on the roof, blow-up holiday figures accompanied by music.  This is a must see!

The lights twinkle up and town this street as neighbors have worked to create a magical wonderland. You will find carriage rides available, Santa's theater Buffy the two-storey bear and a Barbershop quartet, all among the more than 25,000 lights along the street.

Gilbert

Christmas on Comstock
3642 East Comstock Drive, Gilbert , AZ

Note: This Gilbert neighborhood’s light display won ABC 2016 “The Great Christmas Light Fight”.

 Last year, this Gilbert neighborhood, located near Elliott & Higley Rds.  won the $50,000 grand prize in 2015 by winning the ABC “The Great Christmas Light Fight”, beating out communities in Florida and Hawaii.  As a result, the crowds this year are expected to be bigger this year when the display lights up starting on December 1. Thirteen adjacent homes along Comstock St. have come together to produce a magical holiday experience.  You will see more than 110,000 lights, 50,000 feet of wire plus more than 300 strobe lights.  You will love the lights and animation along this street. All the houses have been synchronized to four songs making for a magical display.  Expect a lot of traffic as last year the community averaged 400 cars per hour along the streets.  You can drive through the neighborhood or park and walk a bit so you can stroll at your own pace through the enchanted holiday experience.

Dates and Times: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekends from December 1 until December 30, 2016.

Charmed in Gilbert

1146 N Quail Ln, Gilbert, AZ   

Details: Don’t miss the 20,000 plus lights at Peanuts Airport. See snoopy taking off the end of the runway, Santa in a helicopter and come get your picture with your favorite Peanut Characters Charlie Brown, Lucy, Schroeder, Sally, Peppermint Patty, Franklin, Pig Pen and of course Snoopy, you don’t want miss this display!

396 W Liberty Lane, Gilbert, Az

Don't miss five houses shimmering in 100,000 LED holiday lights.You will see a 6 ft by 6 ft jumbo tron, animated musicians, singing trees and leaping arches. The residents at these displays are collecting cash and food donations to benefit the United Food bank.

2747 E Via Del Arboles, Gilbert, Az

This great Gilbert home display has 15,000 lights that dance and sing to classic Christmas music.  This is sure to enchant the family.

Loop of Lights

38454 North Carolina Avenue,  San Tan Valley, AZ 

Pecan Creek Drive and Carolina Avenue, San Tan Valley 

While San Tan Valley may be a bit of a drive, you won’t be disappointed when you visit the San Tan Valley subdivision of Pecan Creek South Waverly in San Tan Valley.  You will experience the Loop of lights as more than 80 homes are decorated with lights and holiday decorations. Few communities come together like this one to coordinate and share the holiday spirit while providing a spectacular array of lights and decorations in one location to the delight of the neighborhood and those seeking amazing light displays.

Dates and Times: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. nightly, through December 25, 2016
