MOTHERS DAY 2008: DON'T FORGET TO TREAT HER WELL

Mothers Day is this Sunday and though I'm sure most of you treat your mothers and wives like it is Mothers Day every day, a little extra attention this weekend is in order.

I don't know what the perfect Mothers Day is in your family but following are a few suggestions.  First, don't let her trod in the kitchen all day Sunday.  Call today to make a reservation at one of the great local restaurants that will provide a beautiful Mothers Day spread for your loved one.  There are many wonderful brunch buffet's in town but you will need a reservation if you go between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  I can tell you that the Gardens Restaurant at the Penn Stater and the Restaurant at the Nittany Lion Inn provide a wonderful setting and tremendous service.

Don't forget the flowers and I suggest a visit to one of the local greenhouses to pick up beautiful hanging baskets that will provide bright blossoms all summer.  A few of my favorite's include Patchwork Farm located in the tranquil Amish Valley of East Penns Valley and Sammi's Greenhouse in Centre Hall.

Finally, don't forget to buy that gift certificate to the local Day Spa so she can pamper herself with a pedicure, a facial and a massage to relieve all the stress of being a Mother.  Our favorite is Veronica's Spa in Lemont.

spaAnd of course, the most important part about Mothers Day is just enjoing the day with the BEST Mom in the world.

Tim,

It looks like you have this 'how to treat a lady' thing entirely figured out! Wonderful post and I'm sure the women in your family are well taken care of on Mother's Day and every day.

Nice post. I hope no one forgets their Mothers on Mothers day. This is a nice reminder.

Jo - I don't know about the 'lady thing' but I do my best to show my appreciation to my mother and the mother of my children.  Thanks.

Gita - Thanks for the comment.  It is nice to do something special on  Mothers Day but it is nice to treat them well all of the time.

Great suggestions. I really like the ideas of the spa and the hanging basket! I think I'll forward this post to my husband!

Hi Katie,

Thanks for the support but I don't want your husband mad at me.  My wife's co-workers are always giving their husbands a hard time because they don't get the same treatment that she get's and they are always threatening that I need to talk to their husbands (and we've been married 15 years).  Just trying to show my appreciation all year and not just on one day.

By the way, the Day Spa is for sale and listed with me so if you know anyone that needs a small business with a big cash flow give me a call.

What a great reminder to everyone. Unfortunately my mom is gone, so it is important to remind mom how important she is to you on Mother's Day and everyday.
