In October of 2014, Gary was interviewing with Keller Williams Integrity First, in Mesa, Arizona. His wife Melynda and him always talked about someday moving south and escaping the harsh Iowa winters, but it seemed so far away.
Keller Williams was not even in business in the Wolter Team's hometown yet. Only because of a referral from a longtime friend did Gary get an opportunity to become a Team Leader of an office of 180 agents in east Mesa and Gilbert.
Leaving family and a business that saw them pass the $8 million dollar mark in 2013, helping a record 57 families, was a very difficult choice. They could keep their licenses in referral and help their clients and friends with their team of agents in Cedar Rapids.
Melynda got licensed right away in early 2015 and Gary began learning the systems and models that made KW the biggest company in the world with over 155,000 agents, and the #1 training company in the world that just happens to be in the real estate business.
By the end of 2015, in just one year behind Gary's leadership, he recruited with the help of an assistant, 101 agents. He lead the entire SW region for KW with the most number of appointments. Profits were up year to year by 22%, profits share went up 17% and the average Realtor made 14% more.
By the middle of 2016 however Gary missed working with Melynda and being an agent. Being indoors all day in a state that has over 320 days of sunshine a year was too hard for him. He needed to be running a business again and helping people with their biggest purchase whether buying or selling it. After a lot of thought he resigned from his position as Team Leader after bringing the office to over 200 agents for the first time. When he arrived KW Integrity First had 180 agents, and on the day he left the agent count was 218. He was in the top 3 for net recruiting of the 21 market centers in the region and felt it was time to reconstruct "Wolter Team 2."
"It's time to build a business the same way we did in Iowa, with relationship building and premiere personal service. The same service that earned us a reputation for results," Gary said.
