This is our entry into the "It's Time for the 2016 Version of Show Us Your Home for the Holidays" Active Rain contest sponsored by Debbie Laity.
Every Holiday Season Suzanne and I celebrate by carefully assembling our prized Department 56 Dickens Village pieces into our own village.
For those of you not familiar with these pieces, click on the link above. Here is a great description from their website:
"Open the door to Victorian England which at the time of Charles Dickens was the center of culture for the world and where many traditions we celebrate today took shape. The architecture, customs and history of Victorian England are inherent in the Dickens' Village Series®. These distinguished and quaint buildings and accessories are an inspiration to all who make them part of their holiday traditions."
For me it brings back memories of my early Christmas celebrations in London.
Many buildings from Victorian England are still there today, and our display from the weekend prior to Thanksgiving until just after New Years Day serves as a nostalgic reminder of my early days and many family members who are no longer with us, but will always be with us in our memories and hearts.
Suzanne has visited the UK with me many times - back in the days of Thomas Cook Travel and American Express Travel it was "usual" to find us in London and other parts of the UK a half a dozen times a year - or more!
For those of you who have never experienced London or other parts of the UK - we can only encourage you to do so if you get the chance!
