Delray Beach- Merry Hanukkah, Happy Christmas and More Pecan Pie, Please.

It is Christmas Eve and the first night of Hanukkah.  Whatever you celebrate, and even if you don’t I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah.

By the way, if you want to wish me a Happy Hanukkah, I will not be insulted, and by the same token, if someone wishes you Merry Christmas, please don’t take it as an insult.

It is my believe that we say these phrases to others as a way of wishing them the joy and happiness that goes with the season.

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. Norman Vincent Peale

Last Saturday’s Jingle Bell Rock was a huge success!  I was told that there were over 2300 participants, including Santa in a pick-up truck!

The proper response, as Hanukkah teaches, is not to curse the darkness but to light a candle.   Irving Greenberg.

Larry and I were honored to help unload some of the wreaths for Wreaths Across America last week.  Thanks to Mark Loewenberg  (that’s him in the baseball cap in the first picture) for his efforts and the sacrifice his family has made.

In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it ‘Christmas’ and went to church; the Jews called it ‘Hanukkah’ and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say ‘Merry Christmas!’ or ‘Happy Hanukkah’ or (to the atheists) ‘Look out for the wall!’   Dave Berry

Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city. George Burns

This is what you do when there is no snow to celebrate Christmas...you decorate a palm tree!

Have an absolutely wonderful Christmas!

I haven't had pecan pie in awhile.  It sounds wonderful!  I'm wondering if I will make it through the holidays without one!

We had pecan pie for Thanksgiving, so it was cheesecake and cookies for Christmas! I still have plenty left and will be eating dessert all week.
