Christmas Greetings From the White House...

I received an email from the White House. A very nice one. With greetings. So well written...

But after yesterdays betrayal of Israel and US, it is a sour note in the spirit of coming Christmas.

I can't believe the President would do  it in his last weeks, perfectly knowing that the new administration is coming, and that it was opposed to it. So, the country will be in a shameful position when it would start dismantling what Obama is leaving as his legacy. There was enough of it already, did he really need to add yet another road block to remove?

Look at the world. 8 years of weakness brought it all upon us. No, we did not have ISIS 8 years ago. And no, we did not get ISIS because Bush went into Iraq, but rather when the sitting President exercised highly political withdrawal. Remember why he did it? Not because it was prudent to do, but because he said he would do it. And the way we withdrew caused the void, but wasn't it his job to predict? Or even to listen to those who warned him from doing it so hurriedly?

8 years ago we still had the borders set after the WWII, and then came Crimea, and it was under President Obama. And Putin gave all the time to Obama to react, and there were several days, before the Russian Duma voted for annexation, and Obama kept quiet... appeasing Putin. And then came the war in Eastern Ukraine, and it is a direct result of our weakness... But not only we did protect Ukraine, as we agreed in Budapest in 1994, when we were one of the guarantors of their border security in exchange of the Ukraine giving up their nuclear arsenal, we did not even give the the means to defend themselves... again, appeasing Putin.

We made a deal with devil allowing Iran to soon have the nukes. Because today the President is taking credit for it, and it would be a difficult task to deal with ramifications for another President...

And the President is bragging about his role in history? His legacy?

At least in foreign affairs it is a shameful one.

It is a failure.

And it is a shame that the President couldn't restrain and not to stab our only friend in the region.

But some people, including Presidents, do not know shame.

So, thank you, WH, for a nice card, for Christmas Greetings. Your words are better than your deeds, but we already know it anyway.

Ike - as if we did not know it... But why did he put himself in such a position, knowing the position of a coming President, or other people, and yet he would go against the grain, against the tradition, against common sense? What good does it make if a month or so from now it would change?

After all, it is not only about him, it is about the country, so why is such disrespect for the country?

Liz and Bill Spear - they will, but why would one man, even a President, out himself in a situation like this? Doesnt make sense to me. To make Trump throw this out of the window, and humiliate Obama? And yet he does it, so there is some strong urge... What is it?

Eileen Burns - thank you. Seems like he never mastered two things. Foreign policy, and loyalty.

Gary Woltal - he is very clever, so it is not that he does not understand. It is something very cynical, when he woule throw allies and friends under the bus with no particular reason

Jon Zolsky, Daytona Beach, FL During the very first year of Obama's Reign, I lost good friends who objected to my identification of him for who all know today that he is. In hindsight, guess I didn't lose nearly as much as Our Country has due to this demi-god.

Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI NMLS#1483386 - a funny consolation :)

This election clearly showed that while people personally liked him, and his rating stayed quite high, they voted against everything dear to his heart...

One got to be shocked, but he keeps trying to erode what's left... even in the last weeks, even knowing that it would be dismantled, and yet he is clinching to it...

Mike Frazier - I am not taking any chances from him. It would be great if things go great, I can only hope.

But I can't figure why not only Obama, who is ideoloque, and would do everything for his agenda, but Kerry go wwith the speech, after which so many people would not shake hands with him. There were only 3 weeks left, and he was doing a pretty good job considering the circumstances, and then he goes nuts with his speech?

I do not get it

The abstention was the first time the Obama administration stepped aside and allowed the Security Council to censure Israel. Speaking after the vote, Samantha Power, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, defended the abstention, comparing it to policies of Republican and Democratic administrations dating back to the Reagan administration. And just to be clear - the vote was 14- 0, with the US abstention.

Karl Hess - and if it were 8-6, what would it change?

Do you personally support Obama's abstention?

How do you feel about Obama orchestrating the whole thing? Initiating it?

There's no "penalty" in the resolution. Just embarrassing for Netanyahu... who had it coming after he tried to undermine the administration during the Iran nuclear deal negotiations... which he now supports, though half-heartedly. Lets not forget that the U.S. is the "senior partner" and Israel the "junior partner" in this relationship, not the other way around.

Karl Hess - it is an interesting concept of junior and senior partners.

When we were signing the Budapest Treaty and gave the guaranty to Ukraine, we were what? Senior big brother? And when we did not protect their border, which was the key in Ukraine's decision to give up their nuclear arsenal, what role is this?

If I remember correctly, when the Crimea crisis just started, you wrote to me with a question whether US needed to go there with the war?

Well, we are now so much closer to the war, and we are now will be spending so much more money on modernizing nuclear and conventional weapons simply becaue we let Russia loose. Nearly 10K dead in Ukraine, closer to war than we ever been, but Obama is still a great man.

When would you see how blind he is and was?

I understand your issues with the Crimea: let me ask a question, what should NATO have done?

Karl Hess - nothing. NATO would have to do nothing. Crimea is a very long awaited plan by Russia. When the situation presented itself, Putin played his cards.

The real goal was to renegotiate the deal on Sevastopol, which was expiring in 2042 and which Ukraine said they would not renew. A that's was Putin goal because Sevastopol is the home to Russian Southern Vavy Fleet. Putin's goal was to try to get Sevastopol, or, at worst, have extended the lease. So he bluffed with Crimea.

Crimea petitioned joining Russia, and there were I believe, several days until the Duma voted to approve the petition.

These several days were for Obama. If Obama would then rattled EU and came strongly to Putin and threatened with serious sanctions, and not a joke that Obama did later, but the ones, that would really hurt Putin and hurt immediately, there would have been no Crimea. Putin would have renegotiated the deal, probably get Savastopol, but there would be no changing borders, and there would be no war in Eastern Ukraine.

The plan was on the books when there was Bush, never even tried to go with it, knew that kind of response there would have been. But with Obama, it was an invitation for Putin to play a bully. Actually, these 8 years were an invitation for Putin to become a bully.

And if you really think that all Obama did was being weak, it is not the case. He did no understand what needed to be done to have Russia not at bay, but as an ally. The policy towards Russia was stupid in every sense. The country loved US when Soviet Union collapsed. They sere looking at America as gods. One got to be stupid not to understand, that Russia needed help, and not just being thrown in the sea, where they did not know how to swim. Deep frustration came, and Pution came qwith this wave. Strong and unupologetic...

Still stupid, as he does not understand how the civilized world works, and is learninbg, but not stoppinbg now.

That would cost us enormous money. And it had already cost a lot of lives lost. And might be more ahead.

Appeasing never worked. Not with Hitler, not with Putin.

Certainly mistakes were made, in both Syria and the Crimea... You know what else I find interesting? That the Republican 'rank and file' don't care about the Crimea anymore... not since Trump has become best buddies with Putin.

Karl Hess - that does not surprise me at all It is all too far from us, from our wallet, and even when it affects us, it is not something we really care as it is still relatively minor for America.

And Trump scares me as does Putin

Karl Hess - actually I can't understand how the most unamerican person I know -Trump - could become a darling for so many. Rude, obnoxious, name calling, a liar, a bully... everything Americans despise so strongly in others, and here nobody cares. What kind of societal erosion should have taken place that we even conceiving the idea of such President. Sorry for venting out :)

Karl Hess - Good question. It seems that people like to play with the idea of what before was considered wrong.

We had it with Clinton when he had that shameful affair and lied about it, and yet was not impeached, and yet was fine to general public. I don't think it would have flied before...

Interestingly, it happens when the higher standard of conduct should have been expected. We probably would not have a person like this among our friends, but we feel OK to have it in the President.

Weird to say the least
