It's Time To Go Home
Dick Greenberg "They're still getting ready for Christmas, maybe finishing wrapping presents, or making yummy things in the kitchen. Merry Christmas - and - re-blog!
I first posted this on 12/23/2012 - and I've posted it every Christmas Eve since,
so now it's an official Christmas Tradition.
Let's face it - this week is history. You've done all that you possibly can. Nobody could expect any more.
Today is Christmas Eve.
Any problems you haven't solved yet can definitely wait until Monday. The title guys are gone, their offices closed - the same for all of the government types. The good lenders have called it a day and the bad ones disappeared days ago - but don't worry, they'll certainly be back.
The only clients likely to call you are the insane or extremely needy ones, and there's nothing you can do to help them right now. If you give in and try to deal with them, they'll just get inside your head and mess with your "goodwill toward men". You know they'll still be here on Monday - what, are they going to call another agent?
Nobody is going to question your professionalism or your dedication. Look around you - the only ones left here are the OCD nutjob down the hall and the guy who got kicked out of his house and has been living in the office for the last 6 weeks, bathing in the restroom and eating his meals from the snack machine (if you like this guy, maybe you could take him home for the holidays). Everybody else is out of here and you should be too.
The people who love you are waiting at home, as they patiently have all year. They're still getting ready for Christmas, maybe finishing wrapping presents, or making yummy things in the kitchen. They would love to have you home with them the next two days - your being there for them will help make this Christmas extra special - one of the truly memorable ones, for all of you.
So wrap it up, and head home. And before you walk in that door, turn off the damn cell phone - and leave it off. Stay away from your e-mail for the next couple of days too. Trust me - for a few days, you can let it go.
Instead, use those powerful skills you have to focus.... on this:
to you and your loved ones.
