Every year, Walt and I enjoy riding throught the Newport News park to see the Celebration in Lights. There are over 100 miles of lights in this display and each year there seem to be some new displays.
This year was unique as the night that we drove through the display there was a large almost full moon which can be seen in this photo:
The Celebration in Lights generates revenue for the city of Newport News and is also a way to help visitors get into the holiday spirit. As you enter the park the first light display announces the Celebration in Lights:
This photo is at the entry to the park. The first arch seen here is of poinsettias in red and white lights.
There are over one hundred miles of lights and to enjoy the full display, drivers turn off the headlights in their vehicles.
Walt and I especially enjoyed the light display this year since we did not decorate our house as much as we usually do. We are in the process of packing up and moving to a new house, so we scaled way back on our decorating at home this year.
If you are ever in Williamsburg area during the Christmas season, be sure and check out the Celeration of Lights.
