Code of Ethics Training - Don't Wait Til the Last Minute!

It's the next to the last day of the year, and what am I doing?Image courtesy of Ambro at FreeDigitalPhotos.net

I'm sitting in front of my laptop taking the Mandatory Quadrennial Code of Ethics Class.

For those who may not know, all Realtors are required to take this class every four years as a refresher course and to keep up with the annual changes. When you wait until the last minute and take the online version, you must pass a test to get credit.

I'm not a terrific test-taker (say that 5 times fast).

When I studied for my real estate license back in the day, I spent every waking hour glued to my Real Estate Principles book, taking the tests in the back of the book repeatedly, watching for "trick" questions, looking for the BEST possible answer, etc.

We were allowed four hours to take the exam. Everyone sat in the classroom, pencil in hand (pre-computerized testing), and I watched one-by-one as people would complete the exam and leave the room.

I wasn't the LAST to finish my exam, if memory serves, but I passed it on the first try.

The test results were either PASS or FAIL, so you never know your actual score.

Back to today's Code of Ethics class. I completed the first module. I KNOW I scored 100% and looked forward to getting that screenshot. When I tried, something malfunctioned and I lost my place in the process.

 AARGH!

Came to the end of the second module. Tried again to get a screenshot. LOST MY PLACE AGAIN!

Clearly this isn't working.

So.... Trust me when I say, so far I've scored 100%, but my goal is to finish this by close of business this afternoon, with one ENTIRE day to spare (if the grade will count on Saturday).

The moral of the story?

Don't wait til the last minute to take a mandatory, gotta have it class!

Here in California, they take your age, plus the number of years you have been licensed.  Once that combination totals 100, you are exempt.  I've been exempt for awhile now!

I didn't let my agents wait that long.  They were required to be done before Dec. 1.  Anyone doing the course now may not get recorded for a 3-4 days or more!

I did mine today at the CE Shop.  They do a really great job with online training.

Ed Silva - I could say I THOUGHT mine was next time around, but that wouldn't be ethical.

Patricia Kennedy - Great minds think alike. Is that the same as the online course?
