The Best Most Original New Years Resolution

dont be a jerk

My son works part-time as a waiter in a nice restaurant near the university. He loves his co-workers, boss, and the kitchen staff. Serving people is demanding work and he's had some difficult customers. He's learned that some people can be rude and mean-spirited even when the service is good. But thanks to a positive work environment, he enjoys his work.

So what is the best most original New Years resolution?

Treat every person who serves you, as a waiter, checker, gas attendant, clerk, with kindness and as if you know them personally. After all, they are someone's son, daughter, mother, father, sister-- you get the idea. Who knows, it might be my son or daughter you are treating kindly!

And what's in it for you? A great new habit to kick off the New Year! And according to science, being nice is good for your health. Being kind is less stressful and studies show it boosts your immune health

Here's a great example of a small act of kindness making a great difference!

Make 2017 your best year ever!

Great post. We should all be kind to each other no matter what. One should I also leave a kind note on the receipt letting the servers know that you appreciate their service.

Great post! We are trying really hard to instill this in our son. When we eat out, he's to tell our server please and thank you and treat them with respect and an understanding that their job can be very difficult and demanding. We also pointed out to him that we left an extra tip on the holidays because they gave up time with their family to work so that we could eat out. It's nice because now he's almost 13 and he does it without reminding; it's become a habit. We get a lot of compliments about his manners. It's too bad that's not the norm. It should be.

Thank you Kimberly! I love to hear that your son is learning how to be respectful. You cannot go wrong creating that habit in a young man!

Have a wonderful New Year and thank you for stopping by our blog!
