We just started a new year and that means the addition of new state laws.  Below are the New CT State Laws Effective January 1, 2017.

  • Most Health Insurance Policies will be required to  cover tomosynthesis mammography, or three-dimensional mammograms.
  • The state’s medical marijuana program, which was enacted in 2012, will be expanded to include seriously ill children.
  • CT will adapt a new “symbol of access” for people with disabilities.
  • Employers will no longer be allowed to ask about a prospective employee about prior arrests, criminal charges or convictions on a employment application, and first interview.  The only exception is for employers who need to obtain a security or fidelity bond on the prospective employee.
  • The way taxpayers for a multi-state company determine how much of the company’s gains and/or losses are assessed to with Connecticut for personal income tax purposes.
  • Connecticut’s minimum wage will increase to $10.10 an hour.

Hi George, these are some significant changes, I read about the increase in min wage to $10.10 is some states, in FL, it will go from $8.05 to $8.10, not easy to make ends meet for many.

Hi George... I'm amazed about the background check changes... it would worry me if I were an employer.
