Is It Time To Trim Your Nails?

This one is fun, and while it's a stretch, this title really does make a great point.  And yes, today's nail technology is just a miracle!

Is It Time To Trim Your Nails?

Stay with me, this is going to make sense.

I've been enjoying all the New Year's posts about plans and goals. They are very inspiring to me. One of the themes is keeping in touch with prospects and serving them....but can you do this too much?

I try to stay very well-groomed. I believe it's important to present yourself as someone who is "put together." That might be old-fashioned, but I never go out of the house without some level of make-up (sometimes just mascara). I make sure my outfit could be seen by clients at all times...even at the gym. Probably came from my grandfather who was rather "upper crust" and always reminded me to represent my "best self" at all times.

Needless to say, chipped nail polish would not be part of my plan. I loved it when gel nails came along...allowing me to have more natural nails and yet not worry about chipping. It also allows my nails to grow longer than they ever would without help.

So long, beautiful nails are a good thing? Right?

Yes, but this morning they are tapping on the keyboard as I type, so it's time for a trim....too much of a good thing.

It reminded me of a new agent I know who had to refer one of her prospects to me to save the deal. She was keeping in touch...too much touch. She started each day looking up new listings for this couple...and calling with this information. When they stopped taking her calls, she would email them....sometimes twice a day.

Eventually they called me and asked for help.

They are serious about buying, and like this gal very much...but she was driving them crazy! She and I spoke...and I'm working with the buyers now (and giving her a VERY generous split).

Too much of a good thing can be annoying....time to trim the nails.

 Thank you Patricia,

I like the analogy to the nails

Scale back don't be over assertive.

Very relatable Patricia. Too much of a good thing can just be TOO MUCH. It's important to strike the right balance between being informative & being annoying.

I quit using gel when it dried out my nails and made them brittle. Still, I got a manicure yesterday and asked what they were going to use to dry my nails with. the nail tech said she used fast drying top coat so I could leave. By the time I got back to my hotel room, my fresh manicure had sand flecks. So much for trusting a manicurist.

I do not hound clients to death either.

Good morning Patricia.  Hmm, I missed this one, but what else is new?  Now where did I put those nail clippers?

Elizabeth, both are a good idea!  And I am not a fan of gel, either!

I can relate to this! I try to help and I may have kept in touch to often when I was new, until I asked how often my Clients want to hear from me...
