Science Saturdays at the LBIF: For the 11th consecutive winter, the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences will host a series of interactive, hands-on presentations open to the public. Science Saturdays are held weekly 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14 through April 29 at the LBIF, 120 Long Beach Blvd., Loveladies. Each session presents a scientific, environmental or sustainability issue that affects the shore community and the Barnegat Bay. A light breakfast will be provided by A Little Bite of Italy in Surf City. Foundation members are free. Nonmembers are asked for a $5 donation.
The first “Science Saturday” will be on January 14, titled “Fish of Barnegat Bay.”
“Barnegat Bay is home to more than striped bass, blue fish and fluke. Discover the diversity of fish living in Barnegat Bay from an ichthyologist’s perspective. Captain Alex Majewshi of Lighthouse Sportfishing will teach you species identification, fish taxonomy and anatomy.”
