In my last post, It was one of those days today , I let you in on how my day had progressed on Friday, how I had a confrontation with a customer.  It was a rough day, not one I would like to revisit again.

I picked up my son that afternoon from school, and he gave me his 6 year old words of wisdom.  It kind of cheered me up for a little bit.  But again, I got to think that evening, and more and more so over the weekend.  The whole situation really upset me.  I really let this guy get the best of me.  Who was he to talk to me that way, when all I was doing was what I though was in the best interest of my CLIENT.  After-all, his son was just a CUSTOMER.

Today is Wednesday, and I think I have given myself enough of a chance to cool off from this situation.  I feel much better about my career, and real estate in general!  One thing I will always have to keep in mind from here on out is to not take it so personally.  This is often a life changing experience(buying and selling a home) for most people, and often times they think before they speak.  I deal with this everyday, some people may only deal with it once in their entire lifetime.

Well, for now, it's time to go pick up Michael (my 6 year old son) at school and see what he can teach me today!

I won't let them get me down anymore!

A great attitude.  I too sometimes need a few days to decompress after a troubling day, deal or client!

It's tough sometimes Bill.  I've been a broker for 34 years and sometimes people STILL get to me.  I had a multimillioniare client (which I'm not a multimillioniare) get all pissed at me over something small, simple and stupid and he blurted out in front of several people "WELL THAT'S WHY I'M WHERE I'M AT TODAY AND YOU'RE WHERE YOU'RE AT!"  Man....I felt about 1/2 inch tall after that.

Bill, selling and/buying real estate is extremely stressful for people, even if they do not show it.  So, it is important for us to stay cool and understand where they are coming from.  However, now and then, we get those clients who are ruthless, basically jerks, and they treat everyone without respect. I've had a couple of those in my career. Believe me, they are not on my past client list.

Enjoy being a dad.  In the end, only your family truly counts.

Bill:  I remember the incident you blogged about.  Glad to hear you've cooled off and are not to continuing ot let it eat at you.  It's hard not to take things personally in this business.

Keep your chin up.  There are more good clients than bad clients.  My motto is when I am dealing with a difficult client is and will always be..."NEXT" as in next client please.  Just move on, they are so not worth getting upset about.

Marenza - I think he will not end up on any list of mine either!

Chris - Don't know if it is a downfall of mine, but I let things get to me when people don't understand me.  I'll just have to better educate myself and be the bigger person next time.

Monique - Thanks for the comment.  I'm trying to move on, it's not so easy when your pride has been hurt though.

Naoma- Thanks for stopping in and commenting.  I think the better days are on the way for me.
