Tonight was the night for my annual party with friends, neighbors, and clients. And it wasn't without a few little breakdowns!
First, my wonderful housekeeper has been in Kenya and I thought she was coming back last week. I was wrong. So not only was the house really, really messy, but it was getting a little late to make alternate arrangements, and cleaning it myself just wasn't the way I wanted to spend my time.
And as I was arranging for Green Maidworks to save the day, I heard the weather report - snow predicted for Friday and Saturday.
For the last couple of weeks, the RSVP's have been rolling in. A lot of people were out of town until Sunday. And they were dropping like flies to a nasty chain of flu that's going around. Then they started to predict snow for Friday and Saturday.
And my annual bout of neurosis kicked in.
Nobody will cone!
I'll run out of food!
It snowed. Half of the people in DC are suffering with or recovering from something I'd rather not catch.
Still, a bunch of friends showed up, and there were plenty of leftovers!
And now I'm ready to fall asleep and I've had this song running through my head. "The Pary's Over", from an old Broadway musical called "Bells Are Ringing". It was the high school musical my sophomore year, and I haven't thought about it in pretty much forever! But I'm thinking about it right now!
It's time to call it a day!
