ARE YOU PRACTICING REAL ESTATE LIKE KMART, SEARS OR MACY'S? CHANGE DIRECTION NOW BEFORE CLOSING UP SHOP

PHOENIX REAL ESTATEI am sure many of us by now have seen the following headlines in the news see below:

  • LIST OF SEARS AND KMART CLOSINGS
  • SEARS HOLDINGS ANNOUNCING STEPS TO ENHANCE LIQUIDITY, STABILIZE OPERATING PERFORMANCE
  • MACY'S ANNOUNCES ACTIONS TO STREAMLINE STORE PORTFOLIO, INTENSIFY COST EFFICIENCY EFFORTS AND EXECUTE REAL ESTATE STRATEGY(STORE CLOSINGS)

It is funny that I started my professional career at Toys R Us, Inc., when I first graduated from college because at the time it was the best management trainee program in America. Retail taught me the following skills that I am using in my real estate business today see below:

  • Time management
  • How to deal with difficult people (today I do property management)
  • Budgets
  • Operations strong background
  • Marketing

I will always cherish my time in the retail industry because it made me a stronger person as I reflect on my educational and working experience in my early days of my career. However, I have learned to perfect and add on to my skills set over the years in real estate so my business continues to grow each year unlike many retail companies.

I think retail best examples the Chinese definition of INSANITY  which by doing the same thing over and over to expect different results. NOT THE BEST PRACTICE FOR BUSINESSES THAT WANT TO THRIVE

Are you doing the same thing in your real estate business and expecting different results?

I started my real estate career back in 2002. I am very fortunate to have a technical background or I would be behind the eight ball in this industry. I see many agents practicing the 3Ps when listing a home see below

  1. Post the listing in MLS
  2. Post a sign
  3. Pray that it sells

The one company that continues to impress me is AMAZON. They captured one-third of Christmas sales in 2016. They continue to expand their services and offer what the public wants in both service and goods and services to purchase. They continue to head in the right direction when it comes to retail. They have the model that others should follow to be successful. Now, they are in talks of purchasing American Apparel to entire apparel business both online and standing stores.

Are you practicing real estate like SEARS or AMAZON in 2017? Make a decision

Web site or no web site?

Business cards or Ecard?

Working database or no database?

Social media or print ads?

Blogging or no blogging?

WILL YOU THRIVE OR DIVE IN 2017 REAL ESTATE BUSINESS?

There is help if an agent wants to move in the right direction. We are here to assist in anyway here in ActiveRain.

Staying on top of the game...knowing what works for the target audiences you seek to serve, is golden...when you lose that insight, you lose market share as has sadly been the case for these big retailers.

Harry

The retail companies in your post have falling behind the curve . . . . and very likely to go out of business.

Real estate companies . . .  . and sales professional that fall behind the curve are turning into business dinosaur.

Good luck and success.

Real estate offices do not usually make the news when they close. Many will close this year.

My grown kids all created Amazon wishlists for Christmas. I am not surprised that Amazon pulled in the sales in record numbers. I was extremely impressed with the quick delivery and promise it would be to my house by X date. They actually beat the time promised. That is exceeding expectations.
