It seems that if I crave a truly exceptional dining experience, I will need to drive 3 miles into Lahaina as my restaurant options are somewhat limited here in Ka'anapali. On the one hand, I really like the idea of walking out of the back door of my hotel, finding myself on the beachwalk, and knowing whether I hang a left or a right, I can walk to a different restaurant every night.
On the other hand, so do a million other couples and their families who are vacationing in hotels and condo residences in the area. And it seems their standards are easily satisfied because, hey, we're in Maui. It's not snowing. How bad can it be? In a way it saddens me that I've developed different expectations over the years and can't go back to the way it was when I first visited the island.
Don't get me wrong, I've having a great time, though. I celebrate the little victories. Plus, I get to listen to my husband on the phone describe the cold and tasteless pizza leftover in our refrigerator at home. You can see all the photographs and read more about my dinner excursion in my personal blog today at this link: Found Graham's Tawny at Hula Grill in Ka'anapali.
