I have been listening to Kbay 94.5 FM radio station for over 29 years whenever I am in the car. My favorite voices were from Sam and Lissa hosted by Sam Van Zandt and Lissa Kreisler. Apparently, the station management decided to change the format do without the duet. I have a mixed emotion the radio station popularity isn't going to be what it used to be.

Sam V interviewed me on air show a few years ago on a book that I wrote about history of Silicon Valley. I get an opportunity to learn that voices on radio voice are trained. They are not natural voice as we speak. Lissa has been my favorite DJ since my arrival to California decades ago. She used to be on 1170 AM-KLOK station which I listened to. One day I scanned to Kbay I heard her familiar voice and learned she just changed her job that day. I have glued to Kbay since her first day on the job for 29 years. See Sam & Lissa Show

The two team are especially popular with reach out programs to raise funds. Recently, San Jose mayor Sam Liccardo stopped with flowers for Lissa and I thought it was a nice gesture.Sam & Lissa say good bye

The radio station is not the same without Sam and Lissa. The other day I listened to the music and absence of the team's jokes sometimes crazy made me wonder if the station will be same.

I also miss the sound of $ change ratting from a piggy bank. Whoever guess the correct amount will get to keep it. That was an enlighten program as I was trying to wake up on freeways. When I went for the radio show about my book interview the receptionist downstairs asked: "You are picking up your gas card award from Lissa?". "You don't need to meet her. What is your name? I said no, I have an appointment with them". "No gas gift card for me". That was a sweet memory.

At this point, Lissa still is full of energy and is open to suggestions. She is unoccupied. I urge especially all non-profit organizations to approach her getting her back to what she does the best. Here is her contact information (Lissa Kreisler -Linkedin).

Oh goodness, I just watched their "goodbye" and I can see why you enjoyed their show!  From the little I saw (and heard) I am sure they touched many lives.

Thank you for sharing Sam Shueh

In the late 1970s I walked into one of the largest computer companies an evening shift worker was imitating KBAY DJs as the talk show and music kept workers going. In 1999 the company had its first ever layoff since 1911. I saw the same group of people now in silver hair hug each other and wish each other the best.  All walked out mostly with tears in their eyes to say good bye.

Too bad, Sam. Sounds like a big change, and a disappointing one to you.

Change like this is not easy to accept. We get used to those voices we hear in the morning and miss them when they are gone!

I have learned to live with the changes.  Today I said enough is enough. I have switched to KOIT (the famous Koit Tower from San Francisco) and look for a classic music station.  Lissa said on her last day. She has had a few partners before and Sam and her were a great work team. Now she is idling and replacing two humen by a few pop songs CD are not going to cut the musturd.

Thanks for commenting. You can watch the Youtube links see how they work together.
