She opened her heart and her home.
Our family will be traveling to honor and put to rest an amazing person, my mother-in-law LaDean. As a young 13 year old, she welcomed me in her home and fed me when hungry (which was often back then). There was always a chair waiting at the dinner table and a sincere connection that held strong for over 43 years. When I married her son, it was like I'd found my way back home. Always a hug and kiss hello and goodbye. We laughed, cried, shared, loved and enjoyed the time spent together.
She was born during the Great Depression, one of 9 children. Mom learned a work ethic early in her life, it was necessary for the family's survival. One of her biggest loves was riding horses. Who knew that as a young teen, riding on the handlebars of a bicycle, would turn into 62+ years of marriage? Mom and Dad worked hard to raise and teach their children to be responsible, productive, honest people. She has left quite a legacy, 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Always there when we needed her and just a phone call away for one of her recipes or to get advice. She was a soft place to land and it’s hard to say goodbye to someone who held such an important role. I so wish there was more time to spend and that her life had not been lost to illness, that the last couple of years could have been different for her. Mom brought much beauty and love to the world, making a true difference to those who knew her. Goodbye for now Mom, until we meet again.
