Weltanschauung- It’s Us!
Lynn Friedman hosts a Blog JUMPSTART challenge at the first of the year and as part of it, we’re asked to blog about 2 key parts of the ActiveRain culture- the Community Guidelines and the ActiveRain Weltanschauung.
( What the heck kind of a word is that you ask? I’m not exactly sure but it carries with it a certain amount of gravitas, don’t you think!)
It’s a good thing that we revisit the bricks and mortar on which this community was built.
Number 1...We understand that the value of the ActiveRain community rests entirely with its members...is the essence of the ActiveRain community for me, and is the first item mentioned in the discussion of Weltanschauung.
If you’ve spent any time at all in social media and other blogging platforms then you already know how unique the ActiveRain community is.
There are virtual friendships to be sure, but even more, members have taken the time to reach out and meet members in person when possible.
Through ActiveRain MeetUps that are held throughout the year to calling a member for a cup of coffee when you are planning a trip to their city, the members here aren’t just cyberfriends.
And this is why ActiveRain has been viable for as long as it has.
For years, one fortunate member a day has received a call from Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland just to say hello.
When one member needed help with a big box financial institution, the members here began a social media campaign and the institution heard us.
Through personal losses, births, dilemmas, celebrations, platform changes, you name it….ActiveRain members are here to support and help each other.
The best part is that Ben Kinney and Bob Stewart recognize this. They not only recognize it, they encourage it.
So remember when you’re thinking about ActiveRain and this blogging community, it’s more than the words on the page or the possibility of SEO and Page One ranking.
