RESPECT
ActiveRain is a community by design. It's a place where professionals can share their expertise with each other and the public. Like any community, it's necessary to establish rules to protect the community, individuals, and the general public.
As I reviewed the guidelines, one key word stood out: Respect. Here's how I sum it up:
Respect the industry.
Respect the law.
Respect the public.
Respect the community.
As you show respect to others, they will show respect back. This has been my personal experience from the very first time I stepped foot on the site and it continues to this very day. Members are welcoming. Helping each other to grow. Encouraging each other to participate, step out in faith, and get involved. This develops a level of trust that enables members to interact freely, sharing ideas without fear.
But the best benefit is how we are seen by the public. The watching public expects a commission-based community to be cut-throat. They expect us to hold tightly to our knowledge and experience in order to maintain an edge over the competition. Instead, they come to ActiiveRain and see a community of professionals focused on building each other up!
I respect the community guidelines because I understand the important role they play with other professionals, as well as the watching public!
