Dog of the Week - January 13, 2017
I was at the Fort Bend County Animal Shelter in Rosenberg TX last Saturday being January 7, 2017 doing volunteer work. I like to take the dogs for walks; pet them inside or outside their pens while talking and giving them treats I bring with me. These poor pups are starved for attention and some love.
Last time I visited in mid December, three of the dogs I interacted with a lot got adopted. I was very happy and this was wonderful news. The first two dogs I walked and took pictures of on last Saturday got adopted this week! Perfect in mind.
The shelter is once again full and there has been several strays brought in in this week plus owner turn ins. Strays are usually dogs that have been dumped by bad owners. Some of owner turn ins were adopted from the shelter. The reasons given if any by the owners for turn ins are usually pretty flimsy and in my mind I say “Really”. Getting adopted and then returned is a terrible thing to do any dog and could be a death sentence. The shelter can euthanize owner turn ins within 3 days of return!
This week my Dog of the week is a Female Lab ID A009676 mix brown and white in color. She is a fairly large dog but very friendly and loves to go for walks and run in the play area. She needs a lot of good love and will make someone or family a great dog. Her nails need to be trimmed. She did not bark at all at the other dogs. She is a little timid as the loud barking of the other dogs scares many of them them including her. Go out to the shelter tomorrow and visit with her. She loves the attention and being loved. She needs to get out of this shelter!
I am hoping this pup gets adopted this weekend!
