January 16th is National Nothing Day! Do Nothing to Celebrate Today
by Silicon Valley REALTOR Michelle Carr Crowe
National Nothing Day is a day for literally doing nothing. It is "celebrated" on January 16th every year.
Shrouded in mystery, not much is known about this day other than who created it and a simple purpose. Nothing Day is an "un-event" proposed in 1972 by columnist Harold Pullman Coffin and has been oberserved annually since it was added to Chase's Calendar of Events. Coffin stated its purpose is:
"To provide Americans with one National day when they can just sit without celebrating, observing or honoring anything."
That certainly takes some of the pressure off!
In other words, do nothing. And, to say anything more would contradict the purpose of this day. So have fun celebrating this day by doing....well, nothing.
Of course, that assumes that doing nothing is okay with your boss. That is unlikely in fast-paced Silicon Valley, whether your job is in San Jose, Cupertino or Mountain View, Calif.
