Maxed out your credit card?
Put it on ice... Literally!
This is some great advise from fellow blogger Christina Hayes (Rainer) here on Active Rain in her post How to obtain an 800 credit score!
Christina says: "If you are carrying credit card balances, don’t cancel the cards just yet. I just need you to put them on ice literally. Drop the cards in a container, add water and freeze them."
Of course I'm going to say that is really COOL advice and it makes so much sense for the compulsive shopper. If there is something you really need you can wait for that block of ice to melt from around your card. I might also add to that advice to be sure to let the ice melt naturally before running off to make the purchase. Another measure may be to hide the numbers before you put it in that block of ice so you can not read the numbers while it's in the ice (to avoid "on line" shopping slips). I say that because for effect I froze the card above and you can still read it just fine.
