"Hello. I'm calling with a very important message . . .

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Cornerstone Business Group Inc 0225086119

"Hello. I'm calling with a very important message for you at this point in your life." No, you're not. Actually, computers don't call me with very important messages. People do. I don't know how many times I've said this, but every time a computerized call comes into my office or to my cell phone, that is a company I block from calling me, and it is another company I promise to never do business with.

I wouldn't care if they were trading $5 bills for $10 bills. My poor office administrator can field 20 of these a day. It's a shame that I have to tie up her time with these time waisting automated calls, but she takes the heat for me so I can get work done. I'm not 100% sure what good the "do not call" registry is if these automated calls are allowed to pass through without penalty.

It's time that those of us who are sick of these calls join together to form a class action lawsuit and run these people out of business or at least force them to comply with the "do not call" registry like the rest of us in business do.

If you want my business, call me. Don't have your computer call me. Check to see if my numbers are listed on the "do not call" registry. Let me give you a heads up. They are. In that case, send me a letter to my post office box. If I'm interested, I'll call you.

I hate those calls and they rotate the numbers and come in from all over.  Tough to get rid of them

Very frustrating, and as Ed says they rotate using local numbers as well. They also sound so like real people sometimes with the pauses in the pitch, it is only after a fewseconds you often realize it is a computer call.

Good morning Mike.  I get those on a weekly basis.  Some are even using a local area code.

MIke I hear you. We just got the 3 or so call (this week) asking if Anna wanted to go to a class on propecting - and she teaches the class and many more.  They simply don't know their audience. What a waste of time for everybody.

Hi, Mike!  I totally share your disdain for robocalls of any sort.  And I included this one in Last Week's Favorites (a little bit late)

Hi Mike,

Loved your post and so glad that Patricia Kennedy featured you in her "ah-ha" moments for the week..even if she was a day late with her post. I'm with you..hate automated calls and a letter could do the trick if I like what I see.

I so agree.  Click.  Marked as spam on my phone.  At some pt, I'll need to count how many are in that sub directory.

Wish there was a way to stop them.  I just let things go to my answering machine...  The number of calls every day is anoying.

Mike, it is a shame that we can't do much with these companies! Class Action suit may take years to get the solution.

I just wish they would leave my 93 year old mother alone... she doesnt understand it...and it causes her distress... I put her on the do not call registry but it doesnt seem to help.... and politicians are excluded...WHY?

I  share your frustration.  The ones I find strange are the ones that state my business qualifies for a $250,000 line of credit.  Are you kidding me?  Maybe  I should start flipping houses!!   LOL

Hi Mike, luckily, we could block these calls, however, they call from another number and so on..time waster!

Mike

So very true, and it's getting worse.  There are multiple daily calls. I can usually tell which ones they are. And I love then they call back 1 - 2 minutes later from the same number.

Frustrating and when I block a number they just call on anther one!  When it is a live person I ask them to hold for a minute while I get rid of a visitor...of course I just sit the phone down and they just sit until they figure it out!

I block these calls as well from calling again. There are so many ways companies get around the Do Not Call rules. It's a process that needs to be improved.

Kat, I bet I have more blocked numbers on my cell phone than in my entire data base. It's a daily activity.

I love the ones that begin with "Don't hang up..." Most of the time I let my answering machine deal with them so they hang up.

When it's a live person making those calls, my neighbor Terry sometimes takes time to have fun with them. He strings them along for a while before he tells them what he thinks of that kind of call.

I don't have time - I just hang up.
