I’m sure many of you created your 2017 New Year’s resolutions and are off and running with new diets, exercise goals, new hobbies and much more! If you’re into resolutions why not add one more important one? Resolve to save money and energy with Austin Energy!

Here are some sure fire tips to lower your use this winter:

  •        Make sure your thermostat is set at 68 degrees
  •        Install LED bulbs in your home
  •        Make sure your water heater is set at 120 degrees Fahrenheit
  •        Make sure south-facing window coverings are open to let more sunlight naturally heat your home

It only stands to reason the less electricity you use the less your bill will be! Did you know there is a web-based app Austin Energy offers that allows you to track your electric use and predict potential costs? Go to Austinenergyapp.com and get to know your account. This will help you make more informed energy choices and keep your electric bills in check.

You can also check out Austinenergy.com to learn more about available programs and incentives to help you save money while saving energy. Let Austin energy help you keep your 2017 New Year’s resolution!

We have had much milder temps the last couple of weeks which should translate into lower heating bills. That will be a blessing to many households.

This is something that people should want to do without a resolution and I actually prefer the LED light bulbs that I switched to compared to the old ones.

Good morning Dorie. These suggestions are all terrific. I use electric heaters like fireplaces in the rooms I'm in too.

We installed LED bulbs a while back and I am amazed how low our energy bill is. So low it is never worth our while to move Electric supply company even with all the options out there in PA.
