4 Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Trends That Never Die

An article in Remodeling Magazine, estimates that a major remodel of a kitchen costs $59,000 – $120,000 and a major bathroom remodel costs $17,000 – $57,000. You probably are making a long-lasting decisions so important so that you make smart decisions.

1. CLEAN & UNCLUTTERED

Clean, uncluttered spaces are always a good idea for kitchens and bathrooms. Think cleanliness and hygiene.  It is important that they don’t harbor dust-collecting articles. How to store equipment and supplies in dust-free areas (like drawers or cupboards) is important and keep counter tops to be relatively clutter free. Both rooms need a space to store and keep cleaning supplies as well. The area should be tamper proof for small children but easily accessible to adults.

2. NEUTRAL PALLETTS

Using neutral colors for counter tops, cabinetry, flooring, back splash, and appliances with add longevity to your remodel. Think about using interesting textures or patterns with neutral colors. Or use neutrals from opposite ends of the color spectrum, like ivory and chocolate brown, or white and charcoal gray.

3.ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES

Saving energy with good looking appliances are more and more in vogue. Refrigerators, microwaves or ovens that offer good long-term value is important. Also consider low-flow water fixtures or on-demand water heaters. Look for the EnergyStar logo when shopping for appliances and talk to your contractor about other ways to save on your monthly energy and water bills.

4. MAXIMIZED STORAGE

Functionality and maximum use of space are key considerations. Ergonomic design, for efficient movement within the rooms and carefully considered placement of storage are important. Pull-out drawers and hidden storage spaces, help fit more into the space and keep everything organized.  The functionality of a room has more to do with layout and design than the amount of square footage.

Great posts. Many people are interested in getting the latest trend without realizng that most fade over time. Picking design aspects that are long lasting are the most cost effective. Accent pieces can add to the look and change it up and are much easier to change as styles change.
