As a local long term real estate agent in the Fairfax & Loudoun county, I often get asked by the new home construction home buyers "Who are the Best Builders in the area" or " how is the quality of construction"
My professional opinion sounds boring but it is always
"Builder can give you the layout, options and so on but the quality control happens at site supervisor. Yes, the big builder may have additional layers of quality control over a smaller local builder. But at the end, all the builders want to stand by their reputation and quality of the product."
On the flip side as a new home buyer in the Northern Virginia area if you are trying to maximize your budget for a larger home you will get what you paid for. For example, we all know the average single family in the Eastern Loudoun county region (Example Ashburn or Aldie) averages $600K if a builder is offering you a $500-$550K for a single family home they will have to skim down to meet that price point. This does not by any means reducing the standards. They all have to meet certain quality and building code requirements.
