So, Survivor is one of my all-time favorite shows, and since it's been a little while since I've posted something silly, today I'm dedicating my blog to the lessons I've learned over the years of watching dozens of contestants "outwit, outplay, and outlast"!
OUTWIT! Be more knowledgable about your local market than any other agent out there in your sphere! Take as many classes as you can fit into your busy schedule. Buy books about how to better connect with customers and delve deeper into the psychology of different types of people. Go online and research market trends in your area so you can answer any questions your customers have before they even ask them. Your goal here is to be THE authority that customers and colleagues turn to when they have a difficult problem that needs to be solved!
OUTPLAY! Real estate, as well as most other businesses where negotiations are involved, can basically be a big game. You want to provide the best possible service to your clients by clinching the deal and securing them the home of their dreams at a fair price. Sometimes that means you have to play hardball, so don't be afraid to go to bat for your client! Of course, I'm not saying you should be unethical here, don't get me wrong...but you shouldn't be afraid to speak up for your customer and do everything ethical in your power to seal the deal for them!
OUTLAST! We all know real estate ebbs and flows. There are times when we have more business than we can handle in a day, and times when the phone sits there idly collecting dust. Stick with it! Put a plan in action so that your financial needs will still be covered during a slow period. Set goals and work hard at achieving them. And when the going gets tough, push harder! While some agents may give up and walk away when their sales aren't what they imagine they should be, you can be the one that outlasts them all.
If you utilize these strategies, YOU can outsell them all and become the victorious survivor!
